New Handbook from ASME Press Focuses on Energy Systems for Integrated and Sustainable Buildings

July 28, 2107

ASME Press has published the first in a proposed set of two handbooks focusing on equipment and systems used in integrated and sustainable buildings. The new publication, Handbook of Integrated and Sustainable Buildings Equipment and Systems, Volume I: Energy Systems, was edited by Jorge E. Gonzalez and Moncef Krarti.

The new 520-page volume, which is available in both print and eBook editions, is the result of an initiative ASME originated in 2013 to both remedy the dearth of literature on integrated and sustainable building equipment and systems (ISBES) as well as encourage advances in the area of integrated mechanical systems for sustainable buildings.

Handbook of Integrated and Sustainable Buildings Equipment and Systems, Volume I, which concentrates on integrated energy systems for ISBES, covers not only established energy equipment and building energy modeling tools. It also addresses emerging topics in areas such as combined heat and power, building energy storage systems, and advanced control strategies for mechanical energy systems in buildings.

The book’s 10 chapters cover a range of topics including building energy systems modeling and simulation; conventional mechanical systems for efficient heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; passive cooking and heating techniques for buildings; combined cooling, heating and power systems for buildings; integration of solar energy systems; automated fault detection and diagnosis in HVAC systems; and the develop new methodologies to quantify energy demands from buildings in dense urban environments.

ASME members can purchase Handbook of Integrated and Sustainable Buildings Equipment and Systems, Volume I for $191 — a savings of $48 on the retail price.
