Applications Now Being Accepted for the 2018 WISE Internship Program

Oct. 20, 2017

ASME is currently accepting applications from engineering students who are interested in representing the Society in the 2018 Washington Internships for Students of Engineering (WISE) program. Applications for the internship, which will take place next summer, must be postmarked or e-mailed to ASME by Dec. 31.

Ranked as one of the best internships in the U.S. by the Princeton Review, the WISE program offers third- and fourth year engineering students the opportunity to spend the summer in Washington, D.C., learning how government officials make decisions on complex technological issues and how engineers can contribute to the decision-making process.

ASME will be sponsoring one WISE internship during the 2018 WISE term, which will take place from June 3-Aug. 4, 2018. At the end of the nine weeks, each intern will complete a public policy paper on a topic of interest and present his or her findings on Capitol Hill.

In addition to third- and fourth-year engineering students, recent graduates who are beginning study in an engineering policy-related master’s degree program will also be considered for the internship. The selected intern will receive housing in Washington, D.C. — a value of more than $5,000 — as well as a $2,100 stipend to assist with living and travel expenses.
