Video: The Value of Robots Continues to Grow
Sales are down but the value of robots increases.
There are a record 2.7 million industrial robots working around the world, an increase of 12 percent from 2018. The International Federation of Robotics reports that, despite the number, sales of new robots also dropped by 12 percent between 2018 and 2019. “The stock of industrial robots operating in factories around the world today marks the highest level in history,” said IFR President Milton Guerry, who attributed the drop in sales to the downturn in the automotive and electronics industries. Service robots also saw a healthy increase that is expected to continue because of the COVID-19 pandemic. More from the report can be seen in this video.
