The global disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic altered all basic activities, from walking pets, attending school and going to work. Economically, the losses are still being tallied but the Centre for Risk Studies at the U.K’s University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School estimates the GDP for the world’s leading 19 economies will lose $26.8 trillion over five years, or 5.3 percent. For manufacturing, the pandemic exposed the downside of sourcing much of the world’s manufacturing in one country: China.
