Video: Clayton Daniel Mote, Jr.: ASME Medal Winner

Clayton Daniel Mote, Jr. is Regents Professor and Glenn L. Martin Institute Professor of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. He was president of the university for 12 years and was a member of the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley (CAL), where he chaired the Mechanical Engineering department and was vice chancellor of university relations.

In bioengineering, he is the recognized world leader in biomechanics related to skiing injuries. His research focuses on dynamic and gyroscopic systems and on biomechanics. He has authored more than 300 publications and holds four patents. He is an ASME fellow and honorary member and has received numerous awards from the society. He earned three degrees from the University of California, Berkeley: a Bachelor's and Master's degree in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in engineering mechanics.
