Discounted Registration Still Available for the ASME Power & Energy Conference

There’s still time to register at a discount for this year’s Power & Energy Conference and Exhibition — the ASME event that brings together three concurrent ASME conferences and two forums concentrating on advances in research, business strategy and technology development related to power generation and energy sustainability. Attendees who sign up by April 10 will save $100 on the registration price for Power & Energy, which will include admission to two additional co-located meetings: ASME Turbo Expo and the International Conference on Power Engineering (ICOPE).

ASME Power & Energy 2017, to be held June 26-29 at the Charlotte Convention Center, will encompass three of the Society’s premier technical conferences: the ASME Power Conference, which is presented by the ASME Power Division; the ASME Energy Sustainability Conference, which is sponsored by ASME’s Solar Energy and Advanced Energy Systems Divisions; and the ASME Fuel Cell Conference, which is presented by the ASME Advanced Energy Systems Division. In addition, Power & Energy will include the ASME Nuclear Forum and the ASME Energy Storage Forum.

This year’s Power & Energy will feature a number of accomplished and celebrated speakers, including the event’s keynote speakers Bill Ritter Jr., former governor of Colorado and director of the Center for a New Energy Economy at Colorado State University, and Michael Bryson, vice president of operations at the regional electric power transmission organization PJM Interconnection. Plenary speakers scheduled to give presentations at Power & Energy include Amogh Bhonde, director of North American large steam turbine operations for Siemens Charlotte Energy Hub; Douglas Harding, vice president of strategic operations at Babcock Power Inc.; Rajit Gadh, Ph.D., professor and director of the Smart Grid Energy Center and the Wireless Internet for Mobile Enterprise Consortium at the University of California, Los Angeles; Chris Greer, Ph.D., director of the Smart Grid and Cyber-Physical Systems Program Office and the national coordinator for Smart Grid Interoperability at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); David L. Wood, III, Ph.D., team lead for roll-to-roll manufacturing, manager for the Fuel Cell Technologies Program, and joint faculty associate professor at the University of Tennessee; and Eric Rohlfing, acting director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).

Another highlight of Power & Energy this year is sure to be the conference’s fourth annual student competition, which showcases high-quality technical papers from engineering students that focus on various aspects of the electric power generation industry. The competition, which requires that participants present their papers during a student paper session at the meeting, was developed as a way to promote interaction between engineering students and more experienced engineering professionals, as well as help students establish mentoring and networking connections with experts in their fields of interest. Participants will also compete for cash prizes, including a $3,000 first-place award.

Attendees who sign up for ASME Power & Energy Conference, Turbo Expo and ICOPE by April 10 will save $100 on the regular price of registration. Registration by that date for the full, five-day event will cost $850 for ASME members, and $1,000 for non-members. ASME student members and life members who register by April 10 can register for $375 and save $50 off the regular, five-day registration price. Three-day registration is also available.
