Sustainable Manufacturing: The Road Forward

Natural Building, a sustainable building technique that is believed to minimize the environmental impact of our housing and structure needs, is gaining in popularity, albeit slowly. Natural building materials pose few environmental risks, are readily available, and don’t contribute to deforestation, pollution, or mining, nor do they depend on manufactured materials or power tools as do modern building materials.
The Department of Energy has passed new efficiency regulations for dishwashers, limiting the amount of water and electricity they can use. But those standards don't take into account the cost of replacing the appliance if it fails within 12 years.
