A brief success story from Luis Rodriguez, P.E.:
My experience with my mentee has been very positive. We have kept in touch very frequently via email and phone – at least once a week. I have been coaching him with many different aspects of the mechanical engineering profession by sharing my experiences in the “real” world and by offering advice and encouragement. It has been much simpler than I initially thought and the time commitment is minimal. I would encourage students and young engineers to considering signing up for this program because through a mentor they can gain a better understanding of what options are out there and what’s really important once you’re out of the academic world. I have two colleagues that are my mentors, and I am considering signing up for a third, through the ASME eMentoring program.
