Engineering a Better World

Global Service
ASME’s global network provides our volunteers—no matter where they are in the world—with a range of opportunities to “give back” and contribute to making the world a better place.

Efforts have been focused on identifying key partnership opportunities that will allow engineers to use their expertise, in collaboration with other local experts, to solve real-world challenges faced by developing communities. Whether it’s quickly and appropriately responding to a humanitarian crisis or building a long-term, collaborative relationship with a community, ASME can help you connect.

Engineering for Change
Among many examples of the Society's growing outreach in the global arena is Engineering for Change (E4C). E4C is a dynamic and growing community of engineers, technologists, social scientists, NGOs, local governments and community advocates whose mission is to improve people’s lives in communities around the world. E4C features an open, innovative and user-friendly online platform that facilitates collaboration and knowledge exchange for the development of appropriate solutions to issues such as sanitation, access to clean water, energy, transportation, food, education and housing. Engineers Without Borders-USA
Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA) supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. Our partnership with EWB-USA is focused on providing ASME members with opportunities to utilize their technical engineering expertise to directly address basic humanitarian needs and inspiring future engineers with the work of EWB-USA. We also offer joint memberships to student and professional members. Learn more here.
