VISION
Grow and improve ASME’s Institutes.

 

MISSION
Provide the organizational and strategic linkages that enable ASME Institutes to succeed.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • Serve as communication link to and from the ASME BOG.
  • Facilitate the development of new Institutes.
  • Share best practices among the Institutes and within ASME.
  • Facilitate communications and awareness with other ASME Sectors.
  • Recommend mergers and acquisitions of outside organizations to become Institutes of ASME.

 

MEMBERSHIP AND ORGANIZATION

  • The voting members (and terms) of the ISB consist of:
    ASME Senior Vice President for the Sector (3-year term)
    ASME Vice President from each Institute (3-year term) 
    Chair from each Institute (1-year term) 
  • Non-voting members (and terms) of the ISB consist of:
    Senior Vice President  Elect (1-year term)
    Vice Chair from Each Institute (1-year term)
    ASME Staff assigned as liaison to Committee
    Lead staff from each Institute
    ASME appointed Sector Intern

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS OF ASME SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR THE INSTITUTES SECTOR

  • Serves as Chair of ISB meetings
  • Attends Board of Governors’ meetings. Represent Institutes to the Board of Governors. Reports on major institute activities and new initiatives. Communicates Board of Governors’ direction/communication to the ISB.
  • Presents overall Institutes Budget to COFI.
  • Serves as member of Sector Management Committee (SMC).
  • Serves as spokesperson for the Sector.
  • Ensures that the Sector adheres to ASME policy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASME VP FOR EACH INSTITUTE

  • Serve as communication link to and from the ISB to individual Institutes
  • Performs activities to support the objectives and initiatives of the ISB
  • Ensures that the Institutes are adhering to ASME policy

 

REPORTS
The ISB will provide reports to the BOG at its regular board meetings.  These reports will summarize the key activities of the ISB since the last report. 

 

MEETINGS AND OPERATING PROCEDURES:

  • The ISB holds at least one face-to-face meeting each year. Other meetings are held as necessary.
  • A quorum of the ISB at any meeting will consist of the Senior VP and at least one voting member from each Institute.
  • Actions taken at ISB meetings will be approved by voting members. The Chair will designate a member of the ISB to take the minutes of the meeting.  Minutes of each meeting will be approved at the next ISB meeting.
  • ASME’s relevant governing documents dictate nominations and appointments for each member of the ISB.
