Destination

San Francisco is a major city in California, the centerpiece of the Bay Area, well-known for its liberal community, hilly terrain, Victorian architecture, scenic beauty, summer fog, sports teams (the Giants and the 49ers) and great ethnic and cultural diversity. It is also known as “Silicon Valley”, the home to many of the world’s largest tech corporations and thousands of start-up companies. Consistently ranked as one of the most liveable cities, San Francisco has something for everyone. These are only a few of the aspects of the city that make San Francisco one of the most visited cities in the world.

San Francisco is located on a small seven-by-seven mile (11x11 km) square of land at the tip of a peninsula between the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific coast. San Francisco is just one of the cities which makes up the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Well-known neighbouring cities include Berkeley and Oakland (home to the 2017 NBA Champions, the Golden State Warriors) across the Bay and Sausalito to the north across the Golden Gate strait.

Conference Venue

IOWTC 2018 is being held at the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf, located in one of San Francisco’s most popular neighbourhoods and just 15 minutes from downtown.

Hotel Address: 2500 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA 94133

By Rail

The beauty and sights of San Francisco are truly a golden opportunity for visitors. Amtrak serves the Bay Area with long-distance and intercity trains and the train schedules are convenient for day trips or extended visits to San Francisco.

By Car

There are four major highway approaches to San Francisco. US 101 comes up the eastern side of the SF peninsula and is the most direct route from the south, although it often backs up with traffic. Interstate 280 is a more scenic route into the city from the same direction, but with poorer connections than 101. Interstate 80 approaches the city from the east over the San Francisco Bay Bridge. From the north, US 101 takes you over the Golden Gate Bridge.
