2012 ASME IShow – General Information
Thank you for your interest in ASME’s Innovation Showcase – The IShow. This application process is open to all graduate and undergraduate student teams at colleges and universities worldwide.
ASME’s IShow provides the full experience of technology product commercialization, bridging the gap between engineering school practicum to business school theories. A panel of judges will select the most innovative and feasible ideas, with winners awarded over $20K USD in seed funds as well as industry recognition. Cash awards will be distributed as follows:
$10,000 USD – first place team
$7,000 USD – second place team
$5,000 USD – third place team
There is no limit to the number of entries per academic institution.
2012 ASME IShow Competition Application Deadline: Friday, February 24, 2012
Student teams interested in participating in the ASME IShow must submit a two (2) page product/service summary addressing the following seven topics:
What is your product?
What market need does your product meet?
What is the size of the market?
What is the underlying technology or technologies in your product?
How is the underlying technology unique and innovative?
Who will buy the product and why?
What intellectual property protection will be used?
Entries will be judged on the potential and likelihood that these concepts are viable and show potential for a complete, sustainable Product/Service Plan. Applications will be evaluated on the strength, innovativeness, and feasibility of the idea. Technological diversity will also be considered in selecting the ten ASME IShow semi-finalist teams.
