Video: An Economic and Business Case for Diversity in Engineering

January 2018

Player description

Traditional engineering recruitment messages and strategies have under-served and alienated many potential engineers, leading to a dearth of diversity in the field. These messages rely heavily on an emphasis towards science and math, while ignoring more relevant and actionable skills like problem solving, creativity, and a desire to make a difference. In this talk, Shane Haydt, Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Mech. and Nuclear Engineering at Pennsylvania State University, encourages engineers to learn how to talk about their work and careers in a more aspirational way.
