Nominations for Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmarks, Mechanical Engineering Heritage Sites, and Mechanical Engineering Heritage Collections all use the same form and procedure.
Nominations are submitted on form HH-5-00 (see Resources, located at the bottom of the page) along with the proper documentation (photographs and other supporting materials), by the nominating unit of ASME (Section or Division). Ten (10) copies of each nomination must be submitted to the History and Heritage Committee at least 6 weeks prior to the next meeting (see Deadlines). All questions on the nomination form must be answered concisely and to the satisfaction of the Committee.
The criteria (9 questions) does not correspond directly to the enumerated items on the nomination form, but does provide the basis for decisions. (To prepare a nomination, please conform to the enumeration on the form NOT the criteria list.) The completed nomination form becomes a significant resource for ASME and the basis for the required commemorative brochure.
IMPORTANT: Nominations cannot be electronically submitted to the History and Heritage Committee at this time, because of the need for multiple signatures and supporting documentation. The HH-5-00 form can be downloaded in PDF form (for printing out).
