Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA): Engineering A Better World One Community At A Time
Q: Why do I need to contact ASME when I am accepted for a project?
A: Usually, Engineers without Borders require that you are a member of their organization before you apply for a project. For this year's E-week related projects, they are waiving that requirement for ASME members. We also may want to include your project in our information on E-week activities.
Q: Who do I contact at ASME?
A: Please let Marina Stenos (stenosm@asme.org) know if you have been accepted for an EWB project.
Q: What if my ASME faculty advisor is unable to commit to helping our team?
A: You may enlist another engineering faculty member who is an ASME member as an advisor.
Q: What if we think our project has too large a scope for our team?
A: You can work with your campus EWB chapter, if there is one. You can also contact Deidra for the names of other ASME student sections that may be interested in participating. Your advisor may also be able to enlist engineering students in other disciplines, and practicing engineers as needed.
Q: What do we do if we want to write our own project?
A: On the EWB website download section, there is a project application form. The form explains the guidelines for any project, and what will not be accepted. You can find this and other forms at http://www.ewb-usa.org/news-downloads.html It takes about 4 weeks for a project to be reviewed and accepted.
