ASME Turbo Expo 2010 Set For Glasgow, Scotland

NEW YORK, Oct. 30, 2009 – ASME Turbo Expo 2010, a conference addressing new developments in gas turbine technology, will be held June 14-18, 2010, at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center in Glasgow, Scotland.

ASME Turbo Expo – Gas Turbine Technical Congress and Exposition will bring together engineers, research scientists, educators and other professionals involved in the design, operation, and maintenance of gas turbines.  More than 3,000 professionals are expected to attend technical presentations, an equipment exhibit, continuing education workshops, and other events.

Featuring strong technical content focusing on the latest research and applications in the field, Turbo Expo 2010 will cover engine design, materials, cogeneration, combustion diagnostics, and micro-turbines, among other topics.  The technical program also will include presentations on steam and wind turbines to reflect the increasing interest in these topics in the global gas turbine industry.

“ASME Turbo Expo is expanding its coverage of turbo-machinery to related types of energy production and utilization technologies, like wind turbines,” said Klaus Brun, Ph.D., the conference chair.  “The conference will provide a forum for information exchange on gas turbine applications, design improvements, manufacturing, operations and maintenance, and environmental impact.”

The three-day exposition will showcase the products and services of engine manufacturers, software developers, research laboratories, and other firms in the worldwide power industry.

In addition to Brun, other individuals will be responsible for leadership, organization and arrangements for the 2010 conference. They are Graham Hopkins (Rolls-Royce), executive conference chair; Allan Volponi (Pratt & Whitney), technical committee chair, and Jason Reese (University of Strathclyde), local liaison committee chair.

An international event, ASME Turbo Expo alternates each year between venues in North America and Europe.  ASME Turbo Expo 2009 was held in Orlando, Fla.

IGTI, headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., supports the exchange of information focused on improving the design, manufacture, operation and maintenance, and environmental impact of gas turbines, turbo-machinery, and related equipment.
