NEW YORK, April 15, 2009 – ASME Nuclear Technical Seminars, exploring many of the engineering requirements for nuclear power plant construction and startup, will be held June 22-23, 2009, at the JW Marriott Buckhead in Atlanta, Ga.
“Blueprint for the Nuclear Renaissance” is the theme of the event, which will include five in-depth sessions examining the technical developments and regulatory issues and trends in the industry. Three of the five seminars will focus on the requirements for power plant design, construction, and startup.
More than 30 experts representing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Oak Ridge National Laboratories, Westinghouse and other organizations in the forefront of nuclear power are participants in the seminars, which will cover pre-service inspection, quality assurance in new plant construction, risk analysis, operations and maintenance, and other subjects.
The seminar, “Nuclear Industry for Early-career Engineers” will provide valuable insights, lessons learned, and professional development opportunities for young engineers representing the coming generation of technical leaders in the nuclear industry.
As well, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant, which is operated by Tennessee Valley Authority.
