NEW YORK, Oct. 24, 2005 - ASME recently announced the appointment of Michael K. Weis, a resident of Fair Haven, N.J., to the position of associate executive director, Finance and Administration, and chief financial officer.
Based at ASME's headquarters in Manhattan, Weis is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership and management of the Society's finance and administration, which includes financial planning and management, investment, tax and legal activities. He will also oversee the organization's contract administration and administrative operation, including IT, facilities and purchasing.
In his role, Weis will also serve as the assistance treasurer of ASME, treasurer of the ASME Foundation and ex-officio member of the ASME Committee on Finance and Investments, among other boards and committees.
Weis brings over 24 years of financial and operational experience to ASME, having worked in both the not-for-profit and for-profits sectors. He earned his master's degree in finance from Pepperdine University (Malibu, Calif.) and received a bachelor's degree in finance from Upsala College (East Orange, N.J.).
