NEW YORK, March 11, 2009 – Four leaders in the gas turbine and energy business will be the keynote speakers at ASME Turbo Expo 2009, which is set for June 8-12, in Orlando, Fla.
Sunao Aoki, executive vice president and general manager of Technical Industries at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.; Lou J. Cerone, senior general manager of Advanced Technology Operations at GE Energy; John Elnitsky, vice president of Generation and Transmission Construction at Progress Energy, and Steve Welhoelter, general manager of the Gas Turbine Product Line at Siemens Energy, will speak at Turbo Expo on June 8.
ASME Turbo Expo – Gas Turbine Technical Congress and Exposition will attract an international audience of engineers, research scientists, government officials, and other professionals in the power industry.
Addressing the conference theme, “Gas Turbine Technologies: Meeting Complex Global Challenges,” the keynote speakers will offer perspectives on the technologies that demonstrate the strongest potential to meet the needs of industry and impact the broad global marketplace. They also will discuss some recent successful applications of new technology in stationary power and air and marine markets.
Sunao Aoki has been a project leader on all the gas turbine development programs carried out at Mitsubishi since 1972, including the M501H steam-cooled gas turbine.
Lou Cerone has worked at GE for more than 25 years and been involved in all phases of gas turbine systems design and manufacturing. He has served as chief engineer for power systems and general manager of gas turbine technology.
John Elnitsky joined Progress Energy in 2007, after serving more than 27 years in the United States Navy and rising to the rank of Rear Admiral. He has served as commander of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, R.I., and as the Navy’s director of Undersea Technology.
Steve Welhoelter is currently responsible for product development, new product and service engineering, and purchasing and manufacturing at Siemens, where he has worked for 28 years.
ASME Turbo Expo 2009 will cover engine design, materials, operations and maintenance, noise reduction in turbines, alternative fuels, combustion diagnostics, and micro-turbines, among many other topics.
