NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2008 – ASME will address the issues, breakthroughs and innovation in bioprocess equipment and research when it convenes its 2nd Annual Bioprocess Technology Seminars and Exhibition – Europe, June 23-25, in Stockholm.
Following the successful launch of its first Europe-based bioprocess conference in Dublin, last year, the 2008 ASME conference will draw industry and manufacturing leaders, decision-makers, researchers, educators and professionals in the growing field of bioprocess technology.
The conference will feature six concurrent seminars focused on topics that are at the forefront of the bioprocess technology industry. Topics include bioreactor design, purification process development, aseptic fill and finish for biopharmaceuticals, equipment design, disposables technology and systems maintenance of operations.
The seminars will be led by panels of industry experts representing companies including Amgen, Biogen, GE Healthcare Sciences, LifeTek Solutions, Pall Life Sciences, Baxter, Merck and many others. Case studies, best practices and the implementation of new technologies will support robust discussions.
“These seminars should be integral to the biotech industry and help harmonize important issues, said Peter Kierans, director, Optima Pharma Group, U.K.
Recognizing the need to keep industry professionals informed of the rapid changes in bioprocess technology, ASME will also offer a workshop on its bioprocess equipment standards, along with table top exhibits and valuable networking opportunities. Onsite industry tours of the GE Healthcare Life Sciences – Uppsala site, a $17 billion unit within General Electric Company, supporting healthcare professionals and their patients in more than 100 countries, and Alfa Laval Tumba AB, a leading global provider of specialized products and engineered solutions for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, will be offered.
Having experienced the value in attending last year’s conference, Steve Scherer, a research scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., said “Being new to the industry, this conference has put me on the fast track towards improving process with my company."
ASME’s 2nd Annual Bioprocess Technology Seminars and Exhibition – Europe will be held at the Clarion-Sign Hotel, Stockholm, in conjunction with the meetings of the ASME Bioprocess Equipment Standard committee.
