NEW YORK, July 24, 2006 – ASME has announced three authorized knowledge providers for the Engineering Management Certification International (EMCI™) program: American Management Association; Mining, Metals and Materials Society; and Institute of International Research in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The three organizations will be able to teach courses to students interested in obtaining skills as well as an internationally recognized credential in engineering management.
As authorized knowledge providers, the organizations also can organize seminars and workshops using instructional material in the EMCI body of knowledge. EMCI covers financial analysis, sales and marketing, strategic business planning, legal issues, professional responsibility, and other domains increasingly sought in today’s global business environment.
ASME, the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers collaborated on EMCI in an effort to promote a worldwide standard of quality for engineering management. The developers will be reaching out to other educational institutions to become authorized knowledge providers.
Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a not-for-profit professional organization promoting the art, science and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences. ASME develops codes and standards that enhance public safety, and provides lifelong learning and technical exchange opportunities benefiting the engineering and technology community.
