NEW YORK, April 22, 2009 -- The 2009 ASME Pressure Vessels and Piping (PVP) Conference, featuring a multidisciplinary technical program and special forum on nondestructive evaluation, is set for July 26-30, in Prague, Czech Republic.
The Hilton Prague is the venue for the 2009 PVP Conference, which will explore the theme “Sustainable Energy for the Third Millennium” and focus on pressure vessel and piping technologies in the power and process industries.
Including more than 150 papers and panel sessions grouped into nine main technology tracks, the 2009 PVP Conference will cover topics ranging from pipeline design and operations to computer applications and nanotechnology. Engineering experts from Europe, the United States, Asia, and other locales will be among the featured speakers at this international forum.
The ASME conference will also examine the role of codes and standards in pipeline reliability and safety. The session on nondestructive evaluation, to be held on July 27, will feature demonstrations of some of the advanced tools and methodologies that engineers use to detect and analyze performance and stability in pipeline systems.
The 2009 PVP Conference will include a student paper symposium as well as a plenary session featuring Claude Mandil, former executive director of the International Energy Agency, and Dana Drádová, chair of the Czech State Office for Nuclear Safety.
ASME helps the global engineering community develop solutions to real world challenges. Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a not-for-profit professional organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world.
