The 2009 ASME India Oil and Gas Pipeline Conference Set for March 16-18

NEW YORK, March 5, 2009 – ASME will hold the 2009 India Oil and Gas Pipeline Conference this March 16-18, at the Leela Kempinski Gurgaon Hotel in New Delhi.

Eighteen local business partners are supporting the conference, which will bring together engineers and policymakers to discuss new technology and assess the regulatory trends impacting the oil and gas pipeline industry in India.

Including ten tracks over three days, the 2009 ASME India Oil and Gas Pipeline Conference will cover pipeline design, coating technology, life-cycle management, and operations and maintenance.  The Regulatory Panel on March 18 will consider the role of current Indian, U.S. and Canadian regulations and standards on business operations and growth in the local market.

Conference speakers will include Raghu Banerjee, president of J.P. Kenny India; N. Bose Babu, chief manager of technical services at Gujarat State Petronet Ltd.; P.K. Chakraborti, director of pipelines at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.; J. Alan Kehr, technical marketing manager for pipeline coatings at 3M Company, and other leaders in the global pipeline industry.       

The ASME International Petroleum Technology Institute and the ASME Codes and Standards Sector are key organizers of the conference, which will provide a forum for Indian and global industry leaders to network and share best practices in onshore and offshore pipeline design, operations, and maintenance.     

Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a global not-for-profit professional organization promoting the art, science and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences.
