NEW YORK, April 16, 2008 – The 16th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE 16) will take place May 11–15, 2008 at the Walt Disney World Contemporary Resort in Orlando, Fla.
ASME, Chinese Nuclear Society, and Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers are the sponsors of ICONE 16, which will address the important technological and business challenges facing the global nuclear industry.
The theme of ICONE 16 is Powering the Way to a Cleaner and Brighter Future. The keynote speakers will be Dale Klein, chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Dennis Spurgeon, assistant secretary for nuclear energy at the U.S. Department of Energy; Toshiaki Enomoto, chairman and CEO at Japan Electric Power Information Center; Romana Jordan-Cizelj, member of the European Union Parliament; Jianfeng Yu, vice president at China National Nuclear Corp., and Ihor Ostash, Ukraine ambassador to Canada.
ICONE 16 will cover plant operations, systems maintenance, installations, component reliability, materials, instrumentation and controls, codes and standards, next generation systems, safety and security, licensing, and waste management, among other topics.
