Daniel Deckler

Daniel DecklerDan Deckler is a Professor of Engineering at The University of Akron Wayne College and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio.  He graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.  While an undergraduate Dan work for Rockwell International in Downey, California where he worked on both the space shuttle and space station projects.  After graduating, he worked for The Timken Company in Canton, Ohio and Loral Defense Systems in Akron, Ohio from 1985 to 1991.  While at Loral he was an engineer on various antisubmarine warfare projects and the F-15 flight simulator.   During this time he obtained his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from The University of Akron.  In 1991 he joined The University of Akron Wayne College faculty and now teaches engineering courses in mechanical, civil, electrical, and chemical engineering.  In 2002 he obtained his Ph.D. in engineering from The University of Akron where he concentrated his studies in control systems.  His dissertation and current research is in the area of controllable bearing technology.


While at Loral Dan met his wife Jan and they have been married for 20 years.  Jan currently works as an engineer for the Marathon refinery in Canton, Ohio where they currently reside.  Dan is an avid archer, golfer and tri-athlete.
