Engineer of the Year Award & Engineer’s Night Dinner (Hartford Section, 20 years running, 2006) For Sections that strive for very strong relations with industry, the Engineer of the Year Award and Engineer’s Night Dinner provides a way for industry to recognize their engineers in a public forum with many peers in attendance. While run by the Section, individual companies select the award recipients. Attended and supported by company vice presidents and high-level managers, this very-upscale and direct-industry contact program provides a win-win situation in that the Section derives significant financial benefit and excellent industry relationships (which is later used to support students and other programs) while the industries involved receive high-visibility for their employees and their company. >> more details
Industry Advisory Council (Trinidad & Tobago, Section) Forming an Industry Advisory Council (IAC) offers a section a clear way to improve connections to local industry and enhance the relevance of section programs and activities. The IAC is an interactive market intelligence tool that brings in executives from industry to inform the section leadership on the needs for professional development programs, helps define the local trends and identifies critical issues. Compared to taking surveys, this method engages the industry and automatically develops support for training. The real benefit to your section and ASME is improved communication and increased interaction and participation with local industry. >> more details
Technology and Society Division (over 5,000 members) For divisions who are interested in collaborating with other organizations, the T&S’s external collaborations activities are a successful way to partner with outside groups to pull together resources and offer first-rate events. This is a best practice because there are minimal expenses and it enables a variety of technical programs with discussion and feedback. >> more details |
