Process for Submission and Review

Process for submission and monitoring of an ASME Foundation Grant Request

Q. Who can submit a request?

A. Any unit of the Society may submit a request for an eligible project.

Q. How should a request for a Foundation Grant be submitted?

A. Each sector Board of Directors will decide on a categorized list of projects requested by its units to present as a recommendation to the ASME Board of Governors (BOG). All requests should include the title of the project, responsible unit, responsible staff, the scope, budget details, and a detailed plan for managing the project.

Q. What is the process for reviewing and awarding the grant requests?

A. In June the ASME Foundation will report the amount of grant money available for the upcoming fiscal year to the Board. During July and August submitted projects are then categorized by the Sector Management Committee (duty delegated by the Board) as highly recommended, recommended or not recommended projects. The Board will receive the recommendation at its September meeting. In November the Foundation Board will review the list of grant recipients and make its decision as to the specific grant approvals.

Q. How are approved grants monitored?

A. The ASME unit receiving a grant will prepare and submit a final report to the Foundation or will provide an annual progress report if the duration is greater than one year.
