Industry Advisory Board

Background

ASME International (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) established the Industry Advisory Board (IAB) in 1987 to help ensure ASME programs are relevant and effective for its members in industry and to strengthen the Society's ties to industrial members. Over 80 percent of ASME's members (non-students) are employed by industry.

Vision

The overall vision of the IAB is to be the voice of industry within ASME. 
 

Mission

To provide ASME the insight of industry through the following activities:

  • Formulate, communicate and advocate industry needs.
  • Provide feedback on ASME initiatives.
  • Support ASME with industry-related initiatives.
Organization and Activities

The IAB is comprised of industry executives at or near the CEO level of large and small companies that employ ASME members.  The IAB meets twice a year -- in the spring and fall. Meetings focus on a wide range of topics mutal interest to industry and ASME.

Upcoming Programs

Please note these upcoming programs and activities:

  • ASME IAB Meeting - December 2-3, 2009 in Washington, DC
    The meeting will convene at 6:00pm the evening of December 2nd at Sam & Harry's Restaurant (1200 19th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036).  The following Day the meeting will begin at 7:30am at the Mayflower Hotel (1127 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20036) and will adjourn at 2:00pm on December 3rd.
