Best Practices News
The UNIT BEST PRACTICES Committee has been working on improving its I-sight...namely "I" for Incentive, "I" for Indoctrination and "I" for Infrastructure.

With respect to Incentive, we have an opportunity to reshape the Earl Fisher Award, an endowed ASME honor that will be given annually to a Section, or perhaps Sections, that develop and record best practices of value to its members.  Award criteria are being addressed, as are other incentives to motivate the K&C Sector in thinking about how to improve its programs and activities.

With respect to Indoctrination, we consider "Best Practices" to be an ASME member mind-set that needs to be nurtured with effective communication.  Hence, we're looking at ways to catalogue and distribute creative ideas throughout ASME.  The Unit Best Practices web-page is our first media outlet under development, with others to follow.

Lastly, we continue to develop a committee Infrastructure that can collect, evaluate, transfer and administer information of importance to all units of K&C.  To that end, we are always looking for volunteers to serve on this committee.

The UNIT BEST PRACTICES Committee is excited about what it can do for ASME, recognizing that with great "I-sight", great vision can be attained.

We also have a task force looking at developing a program to replace the former Distinguished Lecturers program with a catalog of excellent technical speakers who have expressed willingness to present their work at Local Section meetings.  Board Member-at-Large Judith Bamberger is leading this work.
