2000 Award - Johnson

2000 Recipient
William Johnson, F.R.S., F.Eng., receives the ASME History & Heritage Engineer-Historian award for his many publications on a wide variety of technological-history subjects, including projectiles, the life and works of Benjamin Robins, manufacturing technology, and steam hammer forging.

Prof. Wm. Johnson

-The writing of history, historiography,
is the 'doing of history,' and engineers
should make sure that the historiography
of engineering is not left entirely to historians.
Recognition of this activity by the profession
is very important.
