Committee on Professional Development and Licensure

Purpose

ASME International has established the Committee on Professional Development and Licensure (hereinafter referred to as the CPDL) under the direction of the Center for Professional Development, Practice and Ethics (hereafter referred to as the CPDPE) to develop resources and tools for professional development of engineers and engineering students worldwide, and to promote professional licensure.

Authority

The CPDL is an entity operating in concert with the CPDPE under the Centers Sector.

Responsibilities

The CPDL will provide leadership within the CPDPE on issues relating to professional development and professional licensure.  In particular the CPDL shall:

  • Produce and make available tools for growth in personal skills and competence that keep pace with growing demands for technical excellence for engineering professionals and students.
  • Ensure adequate ASME representation and active ASME participation in the various organizations governing professional engineering licensure.
  • Reward those individuals and organizations that demonstrate commitment to advancing the cause of professional engineering development.
