(Maximum Baseline Points = 100) 

Professional development includes participation in the understanding of technical knowledge and career expanding opportunities. To report professional development events Supplement 9 (duplicate or add extra sheets if necessary) must be filled out and included in the Final Report. Points are allocated for the following:

a. Arthur L. Williston Paper Contest. (10 points per paper) 30 points baseline max
b. Old Guard Oral presenter at Congress. 10 points event max
c. ASME Student Design Contest team at Congress. 10 points event max
d. Charles T. Main nomination submitted to district leader or designee. 10 points event max
e. News article for publication in ASME News or Mechanical Advantage.
Include a copy of all submittals. (5 points per submittal)

f. Attend a technical conference or trade show. (5 points per student) 10 points baseline max per conference
g. Oral presentation at non-Student conference. (10 points per student) 20 points baseline max per conference
h. Poster presentation at non-Student conference. (5 points per poster) 10 points baseline max per conference
i. Attend a non-SLTS leadership or management conference. (5 points per student) 10 points baseline max per conference
j. Author of refereed journal article. (10 points per student) 20 points baseline max per article
k. Participate in national or international technical writing contest, excluding a. above. (10 points per entry) 20 points baseline max per contest
l. Participate in national or international design contest, excluding c. above.

Participate in Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or equivalent examination.

n. Outgoing officers prepare a summary report for incoming officers.   Include a copy of summary. 5 points event max
o. Serve on a professional, engineering-related committee (5 points per student per committee) 20 points baseline max
p. Students from Districts A to F communicate professionally with students from Districts G to J. Include a copy of each communication. (2 points per contact) 10 points event max
q. Participation in extracurricular professional development course. (5 points per student) 20 points baseline max

NOTE: One student may double or triple up on points, e.g. claiming b, c, and f for 25 points at the ASME Congress, or claiming f and g twice and j once with one talk and paper for 40 points.
