(Maximum Baseline Points = 100) Having a social consciousness is part of a professional's life. To that end students are encouraged to become involved in activities that enhance their commitment to service, leadership and professionalism at their university and in their community. Typically, service should involve several students over a period of time, rather than one or two students for a few hours. Or it could be one student over a long period of time. It is understood that neither the student nor the ASME student section is being compensated for the service performed. Service activities should be reported in the Monthly Report (Supplement 1), and on Supplement 7 (duplicate if necessary) for the Final Report. Typical activities are suggested, but not limited to: a. World in Motion b. Engineering Open House c. Habitat for Humanity d. Big Brother/Big Sister e. Tutoring f. Provide administrative support at a conference g. Raise money or collect goods for a needy cause h. Organize a special program or short course in your school i. Participate in K -- 12 engineering-related activities j. Recycling or conservation project k. Diversity Action program

Points = 5 * (Activity Factor)1 |
Points = 5 * (Activity Factor)1
1For example, if nine(9) students each spend eight(8) hours in a service activity, the Student-hours are 9 x 8 = 72. Therefore, the Activity Factor is 3. Points = 5*3 = 15. |
