Category 4: Social Functions

(Maximum Baseline Points = 100)

Points = 5 * (Attendance Factor)

Social functions encourage the development of friendships and professional contacts that may endure for a lifetime, as well as provide opportunities for relaxation, exercise and enjoyment. Such planned activities as picnics, dances, participating in intramural sports, parties, attending sporting events, and student/faculty get-togethers are within the scope of anticipated social functions. Student sections should submit other social functions if they believe that they are appropriate. Each separate event counts as a social function. However, the same function, such as a weekly pizza party or participation in one intramural sport, can only be counted as a maximum of two social functions per year, no matter how many times it meets, even if the contest baseline is met. Socials are planned events. Impromptu gatherings (e.g., a trip to an eatery, shopping trips, or homework sessions) are not social events under this category. Social functions should be reported in the Monthly Report (Supplement 1), and on Supplement 4 (duplicate if necessary) for the Final Report.

Attendance Factor is the same as used for Category 2: Meetings.
