Homecoming Bed Race

  1. Heats will be run over a course approximately 60 yards long in the main campus parking lot behind the Psych.  Building. Runners must keep their beds in their lanes and  not interfere with competing beds. Judges will determine whether a team should be disqualified for interference.
  2. Each sponsor will provide a bed that conforms to the specifications attached (which are part of the rules and regulations).
  3. There will be four (4) human runners --no more, no less-- to propel each bed. Runners are responsible for stopping their beds.
  4. Beds may not be pulled with ropes or chains.
  5. Runners may be changed for successive run-off heats, but cannot be changed during the heat.
  6. There will be a minimum of one human rider per bed. Riders may be changed during successive heats, but not during a heat.
  7. No person may be a member of more than one team.
  8. Sponsors will provide transportation of their beds to and from the race.
  9. All beds must be in the staging area by 12:15 p.m. Lateness will result in disqualification.
  10. All participants will conduct themselves according to the highest standards of sportsmanship - particularly in regard to other competitors.
  11. Names, advertising, slogans and logos may be part of the beds provided they are in good taste, securely mounted and don't interfere with safe operation of the bed.
  12. Beds must be raced head first or foot first.
