Here To There Using Popsicle Sticks

January 12, 1993 DESIGN CONTEST


List of Materials:

  • 1 - Ping pong ball
  • 1 - Tennis ball
  • 1 - Package of popsicle sticks
  • 1 - Roll of tape
  • 1 - Bottle of rubber cement
  • 1 - Ruler


Description:

Design and construct a system that will enable a ping pang ball located above the specified mark on the floor to hit a target 8 feet away. This target is located inside a bowl with a diameter of 7 inches and a lip 4 inches high. Each team has three turns to accomplish this task.

Rules:

Only one entry is allowed per team. Participation is limited to team members. Once the ping pong ball is placed in its initial position, distance away until the trail is team. Participation is limited to team members. Once the ping pong ball all team members must be 15 inches away from the ball and remain that over.

Judging:

The winner will be the team who hits the target with the ping pang ball. In the event of a tie, the group using the least number of popsicle sticks will win. If no balls hit the target, the ball bounding closest to the middle of the target will determine the winner.
