1. Each school is urged to enter at least one vehicle. Schools may enter as many entries as they wish.
2. The vehicles designed must be powered solely by a hamster. The movement of the vehicle may not be powered by the gravitational momentum of the vehicle.
3. The dimensions of the vehicle cannot exceed 8 inches in width, 12 inches in height and 12 inches in length.
4. The designers must design the vehicle to travel in a straight path. The racetrack dimensions are 2 feet by 12 feet. It is advisable that you design your vehicle to travel within the 2 foot width of the racetrack.
5. The feet of the hamster may not touch the racetrack. The hamster must be totally enclosed within the vehicle and must not be able to escape from the vehicle on its own power.
6. It is strictly against the rules of the Design Contest to administer any form of drugs, hormones or foreign substances to the hamsters. There will be urine tests done on the hamsters prior to competing. (Don't take that last statement too seriously.) Any hamster found with these "superman" qualities will be barred from competition.
7. Each school is responsible for their hamster after the competition.
8. The winner of the Design Contest will be the vehicle which takes the least time to cross the finish line, which is 12 feet from the starting line. Each vehicle will get 3 runs at the finish line and the best of the 3 times will be recorded.
9. It is suggested that each school bring their own hamster. There will be extra hamsters available. If this is not possible, or if sudden death is encountered. However, we cannot guarantee that these hamsters will be in the best of physical condition.
10. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st and 2nd place finishers, and for the Best Overall Design.

Revisions

A. Please take special care in choosing the containers for housing the hamsters. The containers and the vehicles must be able to contain the hamster securely.

B. The track is composed of a paper-like texture and will be located on top of a regular size banquet table.
