Description:

Design and construct a device that will raise a bottle cap as high above ground as possible. The raising process must use only gravity.

Rules:

Only those materials provided may be used, although not all materials must be used. Only gravitational potential energy derived from no more than three feet of height may be used to lift the bottle cap. Once started, the device or bottle cap may not be touched again. The bottle cap need not remain in the raised position.

Contest:

On contest day, each design group will have two attempts at raising the bottle cap. The greatest height achieved will be the "contest height." The team with the maximum "contest height" will be declared the winner.

Judging:

The contest judges will inspect each machine to determine if the contest rules have been satisfied.
