Prizes

LOCAL CONTESTS

Teams compete at annual Student Professional Development Conferences held in each ASME District. First, Second and Third place prizes are awarded:

  • 1st Place: Teams receive $500, a trophy, and a travel allowance to go to the finals of up to $1,200 per team with a maximum of four team members.  (*see travel allowance restrictions below).
  • 2nd Place: Teams receive $300 and a plaque.
  • 3rd Place: Teams receive $150 and a plaque.

FINALS

Teams that place first at Student Professional Development Connferences are invited to participate in an international competition held at ASME's International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE).  ASME's 2007 IMECE will be held in Seattle, WA.

  • 1st Place: The prize consists of $3000 plus $1000 awarded to the Student Section of the Winner's Institution.
  • 2nd Place: The prize consists of $1000 plus $500 awarded to the Student Section of the Winner's Institution.
  • 3rd Place: The prize consists of $500 plus $250 Awarded to the Student Section of the Winner's Institution.

TRAVEL ALLOWANCE

(*): Travel Allowance Restrictions
For Local Spring Student Conference winners to attend the Congress:

  • Teams are eligible for a travel allowance of up to $1,000 per team for up to four (4) team members.
  • All travel contributions will be paid after submittal of expense reports.
  • All travel contributions are subject to ASME policy restrictions (travel expense + $100/day out-of-pocket expenses) unless you have been officially notified otherwise.  See also ASME Policy 4.5.
