Creating and Nurturing Durable and Productive Collaborations
A discussion of key ingredients of successful partnerships from the perspectives of the participants, including faculty and students in education, science, math and engineering, and teachers and other professionals in the schools.
Examples include collaborative course offerings; cross-enrollment of students in the various disciplines; engagement of undergraduate and graduate students in the technical disciplines in designing K-12 math/science activities; and providing students in education with a technically-oriented venue for experimental pedagogy and conducting learning outcome assessments.
The discussion emphasizes early development of a disposition for effective collaboration among students in education, science, math and engineering, as well as lessons learned in developing lasting university/school partnerships.
