Adams, Timothy
Timothy (Tim) M. Adams is the Corporate Chief Mechanical Engineer of JD Stevenson and Associates.
He has over 29 years experience in the design of Pressure Retaining Components to Section III and Section VIII of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and the B31 series Codes. Mr. Adams is responsible for: project management, provision of technical consulting and design work in the areas of design/analysis of piping systems; pressure vessels/tanks; mechanical equipment; structures; application of Industry Consensus Codes and Standards for the electric power generation; petrochemical; process industries and DOE nuclear waste processing facilities. Mr. Adams currently serves on several ASME Committees, and has authored over 50 technical publications in the Mechanical Design field.

Blanton, John
John Blanton is Chief Consulting Engineer – Heat Transfer for GE Energy. He has 29 years of engineering design and analysis experience in industrial and aircraft engines. His  work has included leadership of industrial gas turbine alternative fuels research programmes, industrial gas turbine compressor design, SCRAMjet propulsion system studies, and for the past 20 years has focused on gas turbine heat transfer and thermal management. Dr. Blanton also has been an adjunct faculty at Union College in Schenectady NY and at the University of Cincinnati. He is an active member of ASME and AIAA and serves on several IGTI Technical Committees.

Dilly, Manfred
Manfred Dilly is an engineer with over 39 years of experience at KSB, a wide acting pump manufacturer, including long term work with ASME Codes and Standards, Core Technology KTA and Pressure Equipment Directive. Mr. Dilly’s experience regarding ASME Code related activities dates back to 1972 when KSB AG Frankenthal, applied for their first ASME Certificate of Authorization. During his tenure with the company, Mr. Dilly was integrally involved in the preparation and performance of 18 Nuclear ASME surveys at KSB Frankenthal and Pegnitz, and introduced QA systems at their India, Frankenthal, and Brazil locations. He worked continuously as a manager within the Quality Department until his retirement in November 2007. Mr. Dilly still works part time as a consultant. He represents KSB in the ASME group of Interested Experts managed by the ASME delegate Mr. Horst Michael.

Flenner, Philip
Philip Flenner is Senior Welding Consultant and founding member of Flenner Engineering Services, LLC. He has over 30 years of experience in welding qualifications and training, engineering training, power plant repair methods, quality control and performance assessment, nuclear dry fuel storage, and codes and standards. He is a member of the ASME B31 Code for Pressure Piping Main Committee, the B31.1 Power Piping Section Committee, and the ASME Section IX Committee on Welding and Brazing Qualifications as well as other national codes and standards committees.

Frend, Ron
Ron Frend is a registered engineer, and has nearly 40 years of engineering, consulting and management experience. The focus of his career has been practical applications of maintenance and engineering. Mr. Frend is experienced in a variety of predictive maintenance analytical techniques as well as possessing management skills suitable to an engineering consultancy and a large multinational corporation. Mr. Frend has conducted specialized training on the following topics: Fitness for Service, management techniques, Non-destructive testing and inspection of static equipment, rotating equipment (operation, design and maintenance), resistance and gas welding, vibration analysis, infrared thermography and passive ultrasonics.

Haupt, Ronald
Ronald W. Haupt, P.E., is a consulting piping engineer for Pressure Piping Engineering Associates, Inc. He has over 40 years of professional experience in the design and analysis of industrial process and energy-related structures, equipment, piping, pipelines, and supports. Mr. Haupt is a member of the ASME B31 Code for Pressure Piping Standard Committee, the B31.1 Power Piping Section Committee, B31.3 Process Piping Section Committee, and other ASME and national codes and standards committees.

Hellier, Charles
Charles J. (Chuck) Hellier currently serves as an Independent Consultant, in this role he is called upon frequently to provide independent third-party assessments and to assist in the resolution of disputes as an expert witness. He has been active in the Technology of Non-destructive Testing and related Quality and Inspection fields for over 50 years. He holds an ASNT Level III Certificate in five methods and is a Board Certified Forensic Examiner. He recently authored the “Handbook of Nondestructive Evaluation”, published by McGraw-Hill.

Kauer, Robert
Robert Kauer (Dipl. Ing., Dr. Ing.) has been working in the field of pressure vessel and piping technology for over 28 years, starting as an R&D engineer at the Institute of PVP Design, Experimental Stress Analysis and Plant Engineering in Munich. He has handled various national and international projects related to design, structural reliability, Fitness for Service, and inspection programme development for nuclear and non-nuclear applications in pressure vessel and piping technlogy. He holds an US National Board Commission as ASME Authorized Inspector and is member of various national and European committees.
Currently he is head of the Plant Optimisation Department at TÜV SÜD Industry Service GmbH. He received his engineering degree from the Technical University of Munich.

Marez, Yves
Yves Marez is a Pressure Department Manager with Gapave Pression. He previously worked as a Consultant Engineer in Pressure Equipment field with clients such as Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, DFBP: (French LPG Tanks Users and Manufacturers) and with ASME as an Expert Consultant for European Approval of Materials and PED. Mr. Marez has served as a General Delegate "Syndicat National de la Chaudronnerie et de la Tuyauterie” (SNCT): Professional Association of Pressure Vessels, Boilers and Piping Manufacturers; as a General Manager "AFIAP" with the French Association of Pressure Vessels Engineers, and as a Technical Manager with CEREC Recquignies: Dished Ends Manufacturer (Vallourec Group). Mr. Marez began his 35 year career in the Engineer Material Department of CETIM Senlis: Mechanical Research Centre.

Neumann, Alvin
Alvin (Al) Neumann is President and Director of Technical Consultants Inc (TCI). He has worked in a variety of engineering and manufacturing firms related to automotive as well as the defense industry. His exposure to geometric tolerancing began in 1965 working with Chrysler Institute, Chrysler Corporation. There, he provided engineering and manufacturing related training programmes as well as geometric tolerancing training. He has been a member on the ASME Y14.5, Dimensioning and Tolerancing subcommittee for the past 22 years. He currently serves as section sponsor on the Datums, section 4 group. Mr. Neumann is also a member on the ASME Y14.5.1 subcommittee on Mathematical Definitions of Dimensioning and Tolerancing. He has served as chairman on the US Technical Activities Group to ISO on Dimensioning and Tolerancing and Mathematical Definitions. He has served on national and international standards committees for the past 25 years. Mr. Neumann is a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and ASME. Mr Neumann is a graduate of Central Michigan University.

O’Brien, Walter
Walter O'Brien teaches and consults on turbo machinery and gas turbines and is a consultant to industry and government in gas turbine related areas. He actively researches on unsteady processes in compressors and has conducted investigations on the use of alternate fuels in gas turbines and is an active member of the AIAA, ASME and ISA, a U.S. AGARD panellist, and serves on several IGTI Technical Committees. Mr O’Brien is Mechanical Engineering Department Head at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. His experience includes work in propulsion, combustion, instrumentation, analysis and design of electromechanical devices, and product development.

Sperko, Walter
Walter J. Sperko is President of Sperko Engineering Services, Inc.. He is vice-Chairman of Subcommittee IX and a member of several of its subgroups, Chairman of ASME B31.9 Building Services Piping committee, a member of the B31 Standards Committee and Chairman of AWS International Standards Activities Committee, which represents the US at ISO/TC44, Welding and Allied Processes. He is a professional engineer registered in several states and holds four US patents.  He is also Chairman of the Pressure Vessel Research Committee (PVRC).

Swayne, Rick
Rick Swayne is a Senior Consultant with Reedy Engineering. He has worked in many different areas of the nuclear power industry for over 20 years. He has experience in design, fabrication, quality assurance, in-service inspection, and repair, replacement, and modification activities.

Wilson, Bob
Bob Wilson is an Engineering Consultant with TWD Technologies in Burlington, Ontario, Canada and a former Engineering Professor at Sheridan College. He is a member of the B31.1 Power Piping Section Sub Group on Design. Mr. Wilson has taught piping design and engineering courses for 30 years. He has been involved with the design, analysis, layout and support of piping systems since 1963, working with petrochemical, power, steel, mining & processing companies in North America
and Europe. He is the author of a textbook in Piping Design and is the former chairman of ASME’s Ontario Section.

Woods, Glynn
Glynn E. Woods, P.E., Course Director, is a practicing Piping Engineer with experience in piping design, stress analysis, supports, piping failure analysis, as well as piping component design, analysis and testing. For more than 35 years he has been providing this piping design expertise in new and operating petrochemical facilities. The piping component design, analysis and testing experience involved assisting piping component manufacturers to gain pressure design Code compliance for their product. Mr. Woods is a member of the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code Committee.

The instructors invited to present the courses are leading professionals in their field.
Should it be necessary, substitutions will be made.
