Description:
Comprehensive training in the complete Lean Six Sigma body of knowledge. The course can be used for Black Belt training or as preparation for Black Belt certification. This course covers the Six Sigma D-M-A-I-C methodology with integrated Lean enterprise tools and techniques, with all content available online in an asynchronous (self-paced/anytime, anywhere) format. Lean enterprise content includes coverage of the following topics: Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow & Little's Law, Level-loaded Processing, Quick Changeovers, Pull Scheduling Systems, 5-S, Standardized Work, Kaizen and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). The course includes numerous case studies and examples focusing on service, business process, and manufacturing applications. The Design of Experiments module uses Design-Ease software from Stat-Ease, a user-friendly alternative for the design and analysis of experiments. With a heavy practice orientation, as much as 1/2 of your time will be spent working through interactive practice exercises and online assessments. MoreSteam.com's Green Belt training is NOT a prerequisite.

Objectives:
The overarching learning objective of this course is to develop a comprehensive set of skills that will allow the student to function effectively as a Six Sigma Black Belt. The Black Belt body of knowledge includes techniques for both quantitative and non-quantitative analysis, as well as the team leadership skills necessary to get projects across the goal line. Upon the completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • lead teams in applying the Six Sigma D-M-A-I-C methodology and lean enterprise concepts,
  • prioritize improvement activities for greatest organizational impact,
  • define improvement projects to satisfy the customer,
  • measure inputs and outputs to provide meaningful data,
  • analyze data to identify the root cause of variability, including the use of designed experiments,
  • improve processes to reduce variability,
  • control the process to prevent backsliding and consolidate the gains,
  • identify and attack wasteful business practices.

Target audience:
Individuals seeking Black Belt training for professional development and/or as preparation for the ASQ Black Belt certification exam should take this course. The course also can be used for training individuals whose employer has embarked upon deployment of Six Sigma within the company.

This course is a multimedia, interactive learning experience with audio lectures, slide shows, virtual classroom discussion, online notebook, toolbox, quizzes, glossary, and help features. Media components are designed to consume minimal bandwidth and are not blocked by most firewalls. Included with the course is the book DOE Simplified by Anderson & Whitcomb and Design-Ease® software from Stat-Ease®.
