Kenneth Andrew Roe Scholarship                                                 
$10,000 (1 Award)

In memory of the late Kenneth Andrew Roe, former President of ASME and Chairman of the ASME Foundation, a scholarship fund was established in 1991.

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited, or substantially equivalent, mechanical engineering baccalaureate program in the US, and North American residents and U.S. Citizens. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability, character, integrity, leadership, and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession.
For study in the junior or senior year.

Willis F. Thompson Memorial Scholarship
$5,000 each (3 awards)
Mary Evans Stowell Thompson, a founding member of the ASME Foundation’s Archimedes Club, bequeathed a scholarship fund “. . . in memory of my late husband Willis who played a vital and instrumental role in the conception and development of the United Engineering Center in New York City, and in recognition of my late husband’s lifelong interest and services in many capacities to ASME.”

The Willis F. Thompson Memorial Scholarships will be awarded to help mechanical engineering students, with a preference given to students who demonstrate an interest in advancing the field of power generation.

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled at an ABET accredited, or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program.  The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. 

For study in the sophomore, junior or senior year or graduate study.
Note:  there are no citizenship or geographic requirements for consideration for this scholarship.

Garland Duncan Scholarships
$4,500 (2 Awards)

In memory of Garland Duncan, former Chairman of the Palm Beach Section, Region XI Professional Development Chairman, member of the National Nominating Committee and Church Medal recipient, a scholarship fund was established in 1993.

Applicants must be ASME Student Members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of leadership, scholastic ability, potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession and financial need.
For study in the junior or senior year.

Melvin R. Green Scholarships
$4,000 (2 Awards)

In memory of Melvin R. Green, former Deputy Executive Director of ASME, a scholarship fund was established in 1996.

Applicants must be ASME Student Members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of leadership, scholastic ability, potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession and financial need.

The International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) Scholarship
$4,000 (1 Award)

The ASME International Gas Turbine Institute awards a $4,000 scholarship every year based on superior academic performance and demonstrated interest in the gas turbine, propulsion, or turbomachinery industries to an undergraduate or graduate student.

Applicants must be ASME Student Members in good standing at the time of application.  There is no citizen or residence requirement, but applicants must be enrolled in an accredited mechanical or aerospace engineering baccalaureate or graduate program in their respective countries.  Financial need will not be considered for this award.  The preference is for the award to go to a student with work experience or research ties to the gas turbine industry.  See http://igti.asme.org for more information about the International Gas Turbine Institute.

William J. & Marijane E. Adams, Jr. Scholarship
$3,500 (1 Award)

ASME will award annually one scholarship to an ASME Student Member attending a college or university in California, Hawaii or Nevada and demonstrates a special interest in product development and design.

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited, or substantially equivalent, mechanical engineering baccalaureate program. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability (minimum GPA 2.5), demonstrated interest in product development and design, and financial need.
For study in the sophomore, junior or senior year.

ASME Power Division Scholarship
$2,700 (1 Award)

ASME will award annually one scholarship to an ASME Student Member who demonstrates a special interest in the areas of fuels, combustion or the power industry.

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering or related baccalaureate program. The award recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need, scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession.
For study in the sophomore, junior or senior year.

The ASME Foundation Hanley Scholarship
$2,500 (1 Award)
Funded by the Mary Hanley Trust in 2007 to provide scholarship funds for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering.

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled at an ABET accredited, or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need.  Scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession will also be considered.

American Electric Power Scholarship
$2,500 (1 Award)

This scholarship fund was established by a generous endowment from American Electric Power.

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering or related baccalaureate program. The award recipients will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. Preference is given to students who are interested in power engineering or who reside or attend school in the American Electric Power service area of Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
For study in the junior or senior year.

F.W. "Beich" Beichley Scholarship
$2,500 (1 Award)

In memory of F.W. "Beich" Beichley, former ASME Region IX Vice President and Field Services Director for the Western Regional Office director of ASME International, a scholarship fund was established in 1996.

Applicants must be ASME Student Members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program in the US. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of character, integrity, leadership, scholastic ability, and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession and financial need.
For study in the junior or senior year

Stephen T. Kugle Scholarship
$2,500 (1 Award)

In memory of Dr. Stephen T. Kugle, former student section advisor at the University of Texas at Arlington, a scholarship fund was established by the Kugle family in 2003.

ASME will award annually one scholarship to an ASME Student Member attending a public college or university in one of the states in District E (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.)

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, a U.S. citizen by birth, and have a B average or above (3.0 on an a 4.0 grading system). Because the Kugle family has funded a Kugle Scholarship at the University of Texas at Arlington, students from that school are not eligible for this award.
For study in the junior or senior year.

Frank D. and Faye E.  Masino Scholarship
$2,000 (1 Award)

In memory of Frank D. and Faye E.  Masino, long time ASME members, a scholarship fund was established in 2004.

Applicants must be ASME Student Members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability, potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession and financial need. The award is made to ASME student members (undergraduate or graduate) who are residents of or attending school in the Brooklyn, New York and Milwaukee, Wisconsin metropolitan area.
For study in the sophomore, junior or senior year or for graduate study.

Frank & Dorothy Miller ASME Auxiliary Scholarships
$2,000 (2 Awards)

Through the generosity of Frank William Miller and Dorothy Given Miller, a scholarship fund was established in 1993. Frank Miller, P.E., ASME Fellow, Life Member, was vice-president 1951-1952. Dorothy Miller, Life Member, served the ASME Auxiliary as President 1951-52.


Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled in an ABET accredited or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program in the US, and North American residents and U.S. Citizens. The award recipients will be selected on the basis of character, integrity, leadership, and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession.

John & Elsa Gracik Scholarships

Through the generosity of John W. Gracik, Life Member of ASME, a scholarship fund was established in 1992 in honor of his parents, John and Elsa.

This scholarship fund was established in 1999 through the generous endowment of an anonymous donor.

The award recipients will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession.

Allen Rhodes Memorial Scholarship
$1,500 (1 award)
In memory of Allen Rhodes, who was the youngest president of ASME and a former chair of The ASME Foundation. The ASME Foundation is funding one ASME Foundation Scholarship to fund an Allen Rhodes Memorial Scholarship each year in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to help a mechanical engineering student, who has a specific interest in the oil and gas industry.

Applicants must be ASME student members in good standing at the time of application, enrolled at an ABET accredited, or substantially equivalent mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related baccalaureate program.  The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. Preference given to deserving students enrolled at Villanova University.

For study in the sophomore, junior or senior year.
