REQUIREMENTS
- Please click the appropriate button on the left side to get details and requirements for ASME scholarships available to you.
- ASME Scholarships are awarded annually.
- ASME Scholarships require acceptance to (for incoming first year students) or enrollment in an ABET accredited, or substantially equivalent, mechanical engineering baccalaureate program.
- All ASME Scholarships have specific eligibility requirements. Those that have no geographic or citizenship requirement are noted at the end of the scholarship description. You must be a current ASME Student Member to login to the online application system. Click here to join ASME or renew your dues
- To apply for ASME scholarships (except the ASME-ASME Auxiliary FIRST Clarke Scholarship for incoming first year students), please complete the online application form, available from February 1 thru March 15.

The 2009 Online Application is closed and no longer available. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
- The ASME Online Scholarship Application will be available from February 1 to March 15 each year. The online application must be completed and all corresponding information postmarked by March 15. (Corresponding information includes official transcripts and recommendation letters.)

- Your application will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible and fit the criteria.

- All 2009 applicants will be notified of the scholarship results between June 15 and June 30, 2009.

The ASME Online Scholarship Application has seven (7) sections:

Login |
You must enter the email address you have on file with ASME and your ASME Student Member number. The login information is space sensitive. Be sure to eliminate any unnecessary spaces before or after your email address and Student Member number. |

Personal Information |
You must submit all required personal information (name, address, etc.) Required information is noted with a red asterisk (*). |

Education Information |
You must submit all required education information. Required information is noted with a red asterisk (*). |

Financial Information |
Please enter your anticipated resources and expenses From July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. If the answer is zero or the question does not apply to you, enter "0". |

Activities |
You may add no activities or as many activities as you wish. The online application form will allow you to save and add additional activity information as necessary. |

Statements & Recommendations |
You must submit a personal statement (not to exceed 450 words).
Personal Statement: Succinctly describe (as appropriate): 1) Your personal interests and goals in mechanical engineering;
2) Contributions to the profession (e.g., publications, research, innovations, leadership, etc.);
3) Participation and/or achievement in professional societies, school, community groups (e.g., offices held, programs developed, etc.); and/or
4) Any other facts you feel may be pertinent (e.g., employment, family obligations, disabilities, etc.)

Recommendation Letter You must submit at least 1 (2 maximum) recommendation letter. Ask a faculty member / teacher to comment on your character and potential for leadership, or for making a significant contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. This can be based upon specific examples drawn from your course work, projects, or activities that support your personal statement.
You may upload signed recommendation letter(s) in PDF format only. If you choose to send your letter(s) of recommendation please be sure to write in the name(s) of your recommender in the space provided, they must be postmarked by March 15, 2009 and mailed to: Beth Lefever, Centers Administrator, ASME, Three Park Avenue, New York, NY 10016. |

Submit Application |
You must click the "SUBMIT APPLICATION" button to complete the application. Once you have submitted you application, you will not be allowed to make any changes. See below for instructions on submitting changes. |
