Session Organizer and Moderator: L. L. (Larry) Hoberock Presentation Since 1987, Dr. Hoberock has been Professor and Head, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK. His 41 years of engineering experience have been divided between government, industrial, and university work. He received his BSME from the U. of Mo. – Rolla in 1961, and his MSME in 1963 and his Ph.D. in ME in 1966 from Purdue. He specializes in applied automation; applied machine vision; modeling and simulation of dynamic systems; and automatic control system design. He is a Fellow of ASME and Past VP of the ASME Systems and Design Group. He co-directs the Oklahoma Applications Engineer Program, which employs engineers throughout Oklahoma to assist small manufacturers with engineering problems. He was the founding Co-Director of the OSU New Product Development Center, which develops and helps commercialize a wide variety of new products for small Oklahoma manufacturing firms.

Thole Presentation Dr. Thole is Professor and Head, Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA. She received her BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and in 1992 a PhD from the University of Texas. After a two-year post-doctoral position at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany, she began as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin. In January 1999, she moved to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where she held the William S. Cross Professorship in the Mechanical Engineering Department. She is an ASME Fellow and has worked in the area of convective heat transfer for the past 14 years.
Private Fund Raising, Dealing with Difficult Employees, and Salary Administration: E. Dan Hirleman Presentation Dr. Hirleman is Professor and William E. and Florence E. Perry Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Interim Director of the Global Engineering Program at Purdue University. Prior to joining Purdue ME as head in 1999 he served Associate Dean for Research in Engineering at Arizona State. He joined the MAE Department at ASU in 1977 after receiving the BS, MS, and PhD from Purdue. His research is in optical sensors and global engineering.
Private Fund Raising, Salary Administration, and Enhancing Faculty Diversity: Krishnaswamy (Cheena) Srinivasan Presentation Dr. Srinivasan is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University and has been chairperson of the department since July 2000. He has also served as Associate Dean for Research in the College of Engineering at OSU from 1998 to 2000, and as Program Director for Manufacturing Processes and Equipment at NSF from 1992 to 1994. His research and teaching interests are in the areas of modeling and control of fluid power systems, manufacturing processes, machines, and mechanical systems. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. |
