ASME is a founding participating body of ABET, Inc. (the recognized accreditor of degree-granting postsecondary programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology).
ASME has lead responsibility for over 425 undergraduate degree programs at universities, colleges and community colleges throughout the U.S., including:

- Engineering Mechanics
- Drafting/Design Engineering Technology
