What is IACET
The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) is a non-profit association dedicated to quality continuing education and training programs. IACET authorizes education providers that meet strict continuing education guidelines created in 1968. IACET approval is the standard learners seek for quality. ANSI/IACET standards are the core of thousands of educational programs worldwide.

ASME Training & Development has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

In obtaining this approval, ASME Training & Development has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard which is widely recognized as the Standard of good practice in the development and delivery of training programs. As a result of this, ASME Training & Development is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard.

IACET’s mission is “to promote and enhance quality in continuing education and training through research, education, and standard setting.”  Click here for more information about IACET.

CEUs and PDHs
The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created by IACET as a measurement of continuing education. One (1) IACET CEU is equal to ten (10) Professional Development Hours (PDHs) or ten (10) contact hours of participation in and completion of ASME programs.  One training day is equal to 8 professional development hours, or 0.8 CEUs.  For example:

Public Courses
A 3-day public course encompasses 23 professional development hours and offers 2.3 CEUs to attendees.  You must be present for the entire length of a live course to earn CEUs through ASME.

Online Courses
A six-week online instructor led course encompasses 23 professional development hours and offers 2.3 CEUs to attendees.  You must complete an entire online course and receive at least 75% or better on the final exam to earn CEUs through ASME.  Upon completion of a course, you will receive notification indicating the number of CEUs/PDHs earned.

Licensure Requirements
IACET CEUs meet the requirements for professional licensure, although specific requirements vary per state.  ASME encourages you to check with your state licensing board for specific requirements. For more information, contact Julie Nye at 212-591-7120 or nyej@asme.org
