bergles Rohsenow Young MedalHeat Transfer Division Bergles-Rohsenow Young Investigator Award
The Bergles-Rohsenow Young Investigator Award in Heat Transfer is given to a young engineer who is under 36 and has received a Ph.D., or an equivalent degree in engineering. The individual must be committed to pursuing research in heat transfer, and must have demonstrated the potential to make significant contributions to the field of heat transfer.

Gustus L. Larson Memorial Award
The Gustus L. Larson Memorial Award is presented to the engineering graduate who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in mechanical engineering within ten to twenty years following graduation.

Henry Hess Award
The Henry Hess Award is given annually for an original technical paper presented to or accepted for publication by the Society at least two calendar years prior to the year of award by a Student Member or Member who is not yet 31 years of age.

Marshall B. Peterson Award for Early Career Achievement in Tribology Research
The Marshall P. Peterson Award is given biennially in recognition of an early-career achievement and promise for pursuit of research in tribology.


Pi Tau Sigma Gold MedalPi Tau Sigma Medal
The Pi Tau Sigma Gold Medal is awarded to a young engineering graduate who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in mechanical engineering within ten years following receipt of the baccalaureate degree.

This award recognizes a current student who has excelled in research and has shown promise to 
be a strong contributor in the field of electronic and photonic packaging

Fluid Engineering Division Young Engineers’ Paper Competition
Participants should submit a 500-word abstract describing their fluids engineering research paper. This paper could be the result of a project completed either at a university or in industry.

Information Storage & Processing Systems Division Graduate Fellowship and Graduate Student Conference Scholarship
Fellowships and Scholarships are available to graduate students engaged in research related to the field of information storage and processing systems.

Manufacturing Engineering Division Student Manufacturing Design Competition
The purpose of the competition is to foster interest in manufacturing, provide the manufacturing engineering community with fresh new perspectives on design, and create a forum for students to share their new and innovative ideas.

Materials Division Orr Early Career Awards
This Early Career Award is given by the Orr Family through the Materials Division of ASME to recognize early career research excellence in the areas of experimental, computational, or theoretical fatigue, fracture, or creep. The award recipient will receive the stipulated total amount of ($4,000 plus $1,000 travel) for the award and will receive a certificate.

Noise Control & Acoustics Division Student Paper Competition
Cash awards plus $1,200 travel stipend (total) for first and second place winners to present their papers at the annual ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE).

Non-Destructive Evaluation Division Student Paper Competition


PipingPressure Vessel & Piping Division Student Paper Symposia and Best Paper Competition
The Pressure Vessel & Piping Division sponsors a yearly "Student Paper Competition" to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to participate at the Division annual meeting and present their technical papers. Students selected for participation are awarded a cash prize scholarship and the winner of the competition is awarded an additional cash prize.

Solar Energy Division Graduate Student Awards
