Historical Landmarks Newcomen Engine (1712) - direct descendent of Thomas Newcomen's first atmospheric steam engine. Designated a landmark September 1981, Devon, England.
Turbinia (1897) - world's first turbine-driven ship. Designated a landmark May 1982, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England.
SS Great Britain (1843) - world's first iron-hulled, screw-propelled ship to cross any ocean, leading to Britain's world leadership in maritime commerce. Commemorated a landmark September 1984, Bristol, England.
Pegasus 3 Engine BS 916 (1960) - earliest surviving example of the prototype engine for vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) jets, namely Harriers and AV-8Bs. Designated a landmark July 1993, Rolls-Royce, Bristol, England.
Kew Bridge Cornish Beam Engines - 5 notable 19th-century Cornish beam engines. Became landmarks July 1997.

Visit of Sam Zamrick, President of ASME & Virgil Carter, Executive Director to the UK&I Section in London ASME President Sam Zamrick & ASME Executive Director Virgil Carter met with the UK&I Section in London on Saturday 17 May 2008 during their visit to Europe. UK&I Section members, along with members from IMechE were able to pose questions to the high-level ASME leadership in attendance.
Flavio Franco, current District H Chairman, received a certificate for his collaboration and contributions to ASME, in particular to the UK&I Section. Flavio has been Secretary and then Chairman of the UK&I Section.
