Sellers, William
(1824-1905), U.S. mechanical engineer and manufacturer, developed a system of standardized screw threads adopted by the U.S. government, which later became the first international standard. He held more than 90 patents, covering machine tools, rifling machines, steam hammers, U.S. patents on the Giffard boiler injector, etc. He was born Sept. 19, 1824, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, and died Jan. 24, 1905, Philadelphia.
